Environmental Initiatives

•    Ring Road Green Belt Project
We in collaboration with the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation (DoFSC) have transformed the 10.2 KM stretch of Ring Road from Koteshwor to Kalanki with tree plantation and landscaping developing it into a green  lane in both side of the highway.

Started in 2019, Ncell in collaboration with Department of Forest and Soil Conservation with major support of Lalitpur Municipality has taken up the responsibility of maintaining this stretch.
Ncell has landscaped 75000 SQM of green belt area and developed it into a complete green lane that has a green filed spread across the 10.2 KM stretch of Ring Road with 12000+ different species of trees, flora and fauna in this entire stretch. This initiative of Ncell has greatly contributed towards an improved environmental quality and promoting clean and green city.

Ncell’s collaboration with Department of Forest and Soil Conservation and local wards and municipalities that falls under Kathmandu and Lalitpur represents a major change in the way organizations can create impact by working together and is an exemplary initiative under the public-private partnership.

This greening initiative has largely contributed in promoting a healthy environment for the community as a whole and directly touches larger goals of UNSDGs under Climate Action.

  • Plantation of 10,000 tress marking the world Environment Day 2024
Marking the World Environment Day, we had pledged to plant 10,00 trees across the 7 provinces with participation of 7700 youths from the country and this huge campaign was made successful on the National Plantation Day where we in collaboration with Nepal Youth Council planted 10,000 trees across all 7 provinces.
This initiative aimed at encouraging youths towards sustainable initiatives and thus with active participation of youths, we planted 10,000 trees at the community level.

  • Plantation of trees along Bagmati Corridor
Marking the 18th Anniversary of the company with an initiative focusing towards promoting clean and green city, we in collaboration with the Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) contributed in further greening of the Kathmandu Valley by planting trees along the Bagmati Corridor Road in Ward 1 of LMC.
This greening initiative has contributed to a healthy environment for the community as a whole and support to deliver Ncell’s climate action goals as well as contributes the government and city to achieve SDGs on the environment front.

  • Collaboration with Wildlife Conservation Nepal under 1 million tree initiative

  • Awareness Raising on Environmental Protection and conservation of greenery

     Promoting renewable energy
Aiming to promote the use of renewable energy and supporting our community people in the area of our operations ieNakhhu, Lalitpur- 4, we have taken initiative to install solar lights in a 1.7 km stretch from Ekantakuna to Nakhhu Road. So far, we have already installed 150 solar lights. Under the same project, we have also installed a bus stand to facilitate easy and safe boarding and onboarding in public vehicles.
    •    Senior Citizen Park
As a responsible corporate citizen, we have also supported partially in the construction of a park in Sano Thimi Bhaktapur. This park in the heart of the city benefits more than 300 households in the area as a perfect place for children and senior citizens for recreation.
    •    Awareness Campaign on Environment Conservation and Protection
Under the initiative implemented as a part of our CSR, we planted 50,000 trees in 33 hectares of barren areas of Dhanushadham Protected Forest (DPF) for developing it as an area of environmental and ecological importance. To make sure local communities cohabit and contribute to conservation, we also implemented awareness programme involving schools, teachers, parents, and community people of the surrounding area. Later, as a result of the project, DPF was declared as ‘Illicit Felling and Open Grazing Free Zone’ in 2016 for the conservation and development of the forest. We had collaborated with Mithila Wildlife Trust (MWT) for the implementation of this project. Tree plantation with a barbed wire fence in the forest by Ncell played a great role in the protection of the forest. As a part of the project, MWT organized various activities such as the formation of eco-club, debate competition, painting competition, Mithila cultural program, Mithila painting training, and Mithila painting on school walls. Competitions and cultural programs were held fundamentally to raise awareness on environment conservation and protection of DPF. Mithila painting training, on the other hand, aimed at imparting the skills to the community people so that they could productively utilize the skills for income generation.
