As part of its ongoing initiative to extend services and improve network quality, Ncell has added new towers across several local levels, primarily in Madhesh Province, along with Bagmati and Koshi Provinces.&nbsp;

Following the resumption of facilitation from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), the company accelerated its tower installation efforts even during the festive season, successfully activating 20 new sites in record time. The addition of these towers ensures better network access and faster 4G connectivity for customers in the respective regions.

In Madhesh Province, Ncell installed 13 new towers in Parwanipur (Bara), Pokharia, Pakahamainpur, and Birgunj (Parsa), Balan Bihul (Saptari), Janakpur, Kataiya, Kamala, and Bideha (Dhanusha), Kaudena and Motipur (Sarlahi); and Yamunamai and Madhav Narayan (Rautahat).&nbsp;

Similarly, six towers have been installed and brought into operation in Koshi Province&rsquo;s Inaruwa, Barju, Harinagar and Gadhi (Sunsari), and Babiyabirta and Majhare (Morang). One tower was installed and brought into operation in Hetauda (Makawanpur) of Bagmati Province.

Even during the period when the import of new equipment was restricted, Ncell continued expanding and improving its services by installing and operating more than 40 new towers across different parts of the country using existing and spare equipment. 
Under its ongoing 4G expansion and enhancement plan, Ncell aims to install over 170 additional new towers across all provinces within the next two months. This continued rollout will further strengthen network access and enhance Quality of Service (QoS) for customers nationwide.&nbsp; 
Launched in May 2017, Ncell&rsquo;s 4G service is designed to deliver world-class connectivity and a superior customer experience through advanced technology. The service has now been expanded to all 77 districts, providing 4G access to more than 95 percent of Nepal&rsquo;s population.

Ncell Foundation, ICOM Nepal, and the Narayanhiti Palace Museum have jointly launched Sangrahalaya (The Museum), a research-based journal covering the fundamental principles of museums, international and national practices, and various aspects of history.

At an event organised at the Narayanhiti Palace Museum, Kathmandu Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badriprasad Pandey, unveiled the journal.&nbsp;

Speaking at the launch, Minister Pandey highlighted the various dimensions of Nepal&rsquo;s museums, describing the journal&rsquo;s publication as an excellent initiative.&nbsp;

Minister Pandey praised Ncell Foundation&rsquo;s support in the publication, noting it as a commendable example of private sector participation in cultural preservation and promotion. He further stated that the government is currently working on policies for the registration, standards, and management of museums. According to him, Nepal&rsquo;s museums and the artifacts they house have enhanced the pride of the country.

&ldquo;Art and culture are our identities, and it is duty of all to preserve them. We are delighted to collaborate with ICOM Nepal for this programme under the public&ndash;private partnership model, to promote culture and heritage,&rdquo; said Bishakha Laxmi Khadka, Corporate Communications and Sustainability Director of Ncell. She added that the preservation and promotion of Nepali art and cultural heritage is one of the priority areas of Ncell Foundation.

UNESCO Representative to Nepal, Jaco du Toit, remarked that museums in Nepal play an important role in cultural promotion, community dialogue, and education, while also emphasising the need to further develop the museum culture.

Chairman of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Nepal, Ramesh Prasad Dawadi, stated that ICOM aims to broaden the scope of museums in Nepal and continue working for cultural preservation.

The journal was published under the one-year project &lsquo;Promoting Culture and Heritage through Museums&rsquo;, implemented by ICOM Nepal in partnership with the Narayanhiti Palace Museum with support from Ncell Foundation.

The project&rsquo;s main activities included raising public awareness about the importance of museums, providing training to museum professionals, and creating and disseminating museum-related resource materials. Under the project, an informative booklet covering the fundamental principles and key aspects of international museum practices was prepared and distributed to museums and heritage-related institutions across the country.

According to Chairman Dawadi, more than 100 museum professionals from Bagmati, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces were trained on the fundamental principles and practices of museums. The training was conducted in coordination with provincial, local, and federal government agencies, which helped bring together all three tiers of government along with community and private museums to engage in discussions on essential museum topics. The training also covered international museum standards, Nepal&rsquo;s specific needs, and the roles museums can and should play.

The project also produced a documentary, showcasing the history and journey of Nepal&rsquo;s museums from the establishment of the first museum to the present day. The documentary includes both historical and contemporary perspectives of museums.

ICOM Nepal implemented the project in coordination with Nepal&rsquo;s Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and in collaboration with local and provincial governments. Stakeholders believe that the initiative has contributed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Nepal&rsquo;s national policies on culture and museums, and the constitutional authority granted to local governments regarding museum operations.

The project, completed through the cooperation of the government, private sector, and local communities, has made a significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of museums and heritage in Nepal. Participants at the event stressed the need to continue such impactful projects in the future. They also expressed that the partnership between Ncell Foundation and ICOM Nepal will inspire other private sector entities to engage in heritage preservation and promotion.

The couple once tried their hand at running a small business in Kathmandu. However, the venture resulted in heavy losses, forcing her husband to go abroad again. &ldquo;We are still repaying those debts, and my husband&rsquo;s health is not good either,&rdquo; she shared.

Her journey from tragedy to triumph is a powerful reminder of hope. Karki&rsquo;s story is not just about winning a prize&mdash;it is, in her own words, a miracle. &ldquo;I have endured so many struggles in life but never gave up and never stopped believing,&rdquo; she said, overwhelmed with emotion. &ldquo;This prize feels like a reward for all those years of hardship. I am deeply grateful to the Ncell family for recognising my journey.&rdquo;

With the prize money, she plans to pay off their remaining debts, bring her husband home, and invest in their son&rsquo;s future. &ldquo;No more foreign employment now. We want to start a business together, here in Nepal,&rdquo; she said with hopeful resolve.

The Sadhain ON Crorepati campaign, originally launched for 12 weeks, was discontinued by Ncell on July 17 in accordance with a directive from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). Alongside Karki, 50 other participants each won Rs. 100,000 as weekly cash prizes under this campaign.

Aman Maharjan from Lalitpur has won a Ncell brand deal worth Rs. 1 million for a year by securing the first position in the &lsquo;League of Creators&rsquo; competition organised by Ncell in collaboration with Uptrendly.

Prabha Shrestha from Kathmandu, who goes by the creator&rsquo;s name Mademoiselle Creator, bagged second place, winning a brand deal worth Rs. 500,000. Similarly, Manish Ruchel from Baglung secured third position with a brand deal worth Rs. 250,000, while Prashant Pandey from Butwal came in fourth, earning the Uptrendly Pick award along with a brand deal worth Rs. 100,000.

The winners were awarded amid the Grand Finale event held last Friday in Kathmandu. Ncell had launched this dynamic nationwide initiative aimed at discovering and empowering Nepal&rsquo;s next generation digital content creators.&nbsp;

The creators received training on content planning, the creative process, messaging, and strategies for presenting themselves to brands.

Winner Maharjan was from Pratima Adhikari&rsquo;s team, while runner-up Shrestha belonged to Sanjog Koirala&rsquo;s team. Likewise, third and fourth place winners Ruchel and Pandey were from Mr. Foodie Nepal&rsquo;s team.

The top four winners were selected by a panel of jury. The judging panel included Mike Harker, Head of Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Nepal; Film Director Simosh Sunuwar; Punam Singh, Director of Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability at Ncell; and Monayac Karki, CEO of Uptrendly.

Ncell ‘League of Creators’: Aman wins Ncell brand deal worth Rs. 1 million

For the convenience of general consumers, Ncell is now working to issue new mobile numbers starting with the 971 number range, in line with the permission granted by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). The company has stated that it is preparing to start distributing the new SIMs by July 31. 
 
On May 28, 2025, NTA permitted Ncell to use this new number range. The new number range has been allocated to Ncell as the previously issued ranges&mdash;980, 981, 982, and 970&mdash;have become insufficient to meet demand for mobile numbers.&nbsp;

This new mobile range has been allocated in line with the rules under the NTA&rsquo;s National Numbering Allocation Plan. Beyond telecom services, mobile numbers are increasingly essential for various purposes such as receiving One-Time Passwords (OTPs), signing up and verification for mobile apps and web-based services, and conducting digital transactions. 
 
Ncell has requested all service providers, government agencies, non-government organizations, private sector companies, banks, and financial institutions to integrate/update their systems to accommodate this new number range, similar to the existing ones, for seamless customer service.
